Why Day Clubs are a great option for supporting your loved ones
Best Life Day Clubs create an environment where every individual can thrive and experience their best life, every day.
What are day clubs?
Day clubs provide organised activities under the supervision of professional companions, for older adults and individuals living with dementia that need stimulation. Day clubs allow our loved ones to socialise and enjoy group activities whilst still receiving any necessary supervision. Simultaneously, they give much needed respite and peace of mind to caregivers.
One of our carers commented:
The guilt is relentless. I love my mum dearly, but I can’t be there every minute. It’s exhausting trying to balance work, family, and her needs. I feel like I’m failing her. It’s a lifeline. I finally have some time to recharge, catch up on personal tasks, and just breathe. Knowing Mum is safe and engaged brings me peace of mind. She lights up when she’s there! She’s making friends, staying active, and participating in activities that stimulate her mind. It’s incredible to see her so happy and engaged
Activities
At Best Life Day Clubs, we offer a range of exciting activities, each having different social and personal benefits. Some of our past activities have included visits from therapy pets, board games, air hockey, pool, pottery, oil painting, reminiscence activities, guest speakers and even ice creams in the sunshine. These activities are exciting and stimulating, so you can feel comfortable knowing that your loved one is both happy and safe.
Connection
Research shows that day clubs have an extremely positive impact on attendees' social life and relationships. At our day clubs, people are able to freely socialise with one another, make friends and share stories, shown to improve both their quality of life and mental well-being. We base our activities around communicating with others and shared enjoyment of activities to give attendees a great feeling of companionship and belonging.
After a loved one attending one of our sessions, we were told:
Mum is very impressed with how everyone is so friendly to her and she says the atmosphere is wonderful.
Mental and Physical Health
Day clubs have been proven to improve mental health, physical function and overall quality of life. They provide people with something to look forward to throughout the week, along with hours of enjoyment throughout the day. Making friends and partaking in group activities has been a great way to increase positivity and reduce stress and anxiety. We also often offer activities such as chair based exercise sessions, listening to music where people can join in a dance if they wish to, and of course nutritious group meals at lunchtime, all contributing to physical and emotional well-being.
We love what we do at our day centres and understand how important spaces like these are for our loved ones. Our Day Clubs also provide a space to network with other carers, along with much needed respite knowing that attendees are being well looked after by our experienced day centre staff. We are an ever-growing team of patient, kind-hearted people, and we want to make a real difference to our community.
We encourage you to come and join in! We are currently offering the first 2 sessions for free.
